General Overview

The Silver Arowana is a freshwater fish known for its sleek, elongated body and unique hunting behavior, often leaping out of the water to catch prey. It is a highly sought-after fish among aquarium enthusiasts due to its striking appearance and aggressive nature.

Maximum Size

• Can grow up to 3 feet (36 inches / 91 cm) in the wild.
• In captivity, it typically reaches around 24-30 inches (60-76 cm) with proper care.

Native Habitat

• Found in South America, specifically in the Amazon River Basin, including the rivers of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Guyana.

Growth Rate

• Juveniles grow quickly, reaching about 12 inches (30 cm) within their first year.

Life Span

• Typically lives 10-15 years in captivity, but can reach up to 20 years with excellent care.

Diet (Carnivorous or Omnivorous?)

• Carnivorous by nature.
• Feeds on fish, insects, crustaceans, and small amphibians in the wild.
